Oxford opens £200M Life and Mind Building for research in biology, psychology, and key global challenges.
Oxford University has opened its £200 million Life and Mind Building, a major new facility on South Parks Road designed by NBBJ and funded by Legal & General through a £4 billion partnership.
The 269,000-square-foot building houses the Departments of Biology and Experimental Psychology, the Ineos Oxford Institute for antimicrobial research, and the university’s botanical collections.
It will serve over 1,400 staff and students, including 1,000 undergraduates, offering advanced labs, lecture halls, and spaces for public engagement.
The facility supports interdisciplinary research on climate change, mental health, food security, and artificial intelligence, with a £27 million donation from The Paul Foundation focused on children’s mental health.
The project marks a key milestone in Oxford’s academic infrastructure development.
