An oil tanker caught fire during repairs in Indonesia, killing at least 10 and injuring 18 shipyard workers.
An oil tanker, MT Federal II, caught fire Wednesday morning during repairs at a shipyard in Batam, Indonesia, killing at least 10 people and injuring 18, all of whom were shipyard workers.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. local time while the vessel was docked and not carrying oil.
The cause remains under investigation, and the ship’s ownership has not been confirmed.
This follows a similar fire in June that killed four and injured nine, linked to alleged safety violations.
Batam lies about 20 kilometers from Singapore.
