Nigeria's COMAC demands probe into $35M aviation procurement fraud, alleging contracts given to ineligible firms.
The Coalition Against Malpractices and Corruption (COMAC) has called for an investigation into Nigeria’s Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development over alleged N30 billion in procurement fraud, claiming contracts were awarded to unqualified, non-existent, or newly registered companies lacking tax compliance or operational history.
COMAC, which includes CEDEHUR, AMEPROGAS, and Arewa Youth Alliance, says it submitted a Freedom of Information request for procurement records and bid documents but received no response.
The coalition alleges violations of the Public Procurement Act and constitutional provisions, citing potential misuse of public funds and misconduct by permanent secretary Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, who denies awarding contracts since his appointment and says his family-linked company is inactive.
COMAC plans to submit evidence to the EFCC, ICPC, and National Assembly, warning of protests and legal action if the ministry does not respond.
The ministry has not confirmed or denied the allegations.
