Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara erupted on October 15, 2025, ejecting an ash plume up to 10 kilometers high and triggering the highest aviation alert.
The eruption, which occurred at 1:35 a.m. local time and followed a prior event two hours earlier, prompted evacuations of dozens of residents and the closure of Maumere Airport until Thursday.
Authorities warned of potential volcanic mudflows if rain occurs and urged people within six to seven kilometers to stay alert.
The volcano, part of Indonesia’s 120+ active volcanoes along the Pacific Ring of Fire, has seen increased activity since Monday.
No immediate casualties or damage were reported.
