Liberia’s Auditor General elected chair of ECOSAI, promoting new audit accountability system.
Liberia’s Auditor General P. Garswa Jackson has been elected Chairman of ECOSAI for a two-year term, succeeding Ghana’s Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, during a meeting in Accra, Ghana, from October 7 to 11, 2025.
His unopposed election followed a presentation of a new Audit Follow-up Mechanism using corrective action plans, trackers, and dashboards aligned with international standards and Liberia’s financial framework.
The system aims to improve accountability and implementation of audit recommendations through collaboration with key institutions.
Regional peers praised the approach and agreed to adopt it across member states, emphasizing the need for executive support and institutional ownership.
Other topics included audits of the ECOWAS Levy and Community Levy Subvention, as well as joint audit planning.
Jackson’s vice chairpersons are from Guinea-Bissau and Benin.
