Irish parks suffered over 30 acts of vandalism and arson in 18 months, damaging forests, peatlands, and wildlife infrastructure.
Over the past 18 months, Irish national parks have seen more than 30 incidents of vandalism, arson, and environmental damage, according to the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
Sites including Coole Park, Wild Nephin, and the Glen of the Downs experienced repeated destruction, such as blocked toilets, stolen or cut locks, graffiti, littering, and fires that destroyed over 70 hectares of forest and peatland.
Other damage included theft of trees, off-road vehicle use, destruction of signs and footbridges, and interference with wildlife monitoring equipment.
The incidents, spanning multiple counties, reflect a pattern of deliberate harm to protected natural areas.
