On October 15, 2025, India honored the 94th birth anniversary of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, widely known as the "Missile Man of India," with tributes from President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kalam, born in Rameswaram in 1931, rose from humble beginnings to lead key advancements in India’s space and defense programs, including the SLV-III, AGNI, and PRITHVI missiles, and the 1998 Pokhran-II nuclear tests.
He served as India’s 11th president from 2002 to 2007 and remained a revered figure for his advocacy of youth empowerment, education, and national self-reliance.
Modi and other leaders praised his vision, humility, and enduring legacy, while a biopic starring Dhanush is set to further highlight his life.
Kalam passed away in 2015.
