Michael Okyere Baafi, Ghana’s MP for New Juaben South, has announced he will not run for re-election after completing his current term, stating his original mission to address a Koforidua parliamentary issue has been fulfilled. He confirmed he plans to return to the corporate sector, emphasizing his commitment to a single-term political career. Baafi, a former Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry and Executive Secretary of the Ghana Free Zones Board, credited his opportunities to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who gave him the rare choice of government appointment after the 2016 election, a gesture he described as a sign of deep trust and loyalty.
