Brockville extends support after Co-Operative Care Centre closure, adding 100+ housing beds by 2026.
Brockville Mayor Matt Wren announced on October 14, 2025, that local services will maintain capacity to support individuals previously served by the Co-Operative Care Centre, which is closing at year-end.
Funding from the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is being redirected to supportive housing and addiction recovery under a 10-year plan, extending the centre’s operations through 2025.
The city is adding nearly 100 new shelter and housing beds by early 2026, including 25 supportive cabins, 24 new units in a former sewage building, and a new HART Hub with 15 emergency spaces.
More than 25 people have already transitioned from temporary housing to permanent homes.
Government funding for homelessness initiatives has more than doubled since 2022, reaching over $2 million in 2025.
