flag British Library workers to strike over pay, citing inflation-beating raises and financial strain.

Workers at the British Library in London will strike from October 27 to November 9 after 98% of over 300 PCS union members voted for action over pay, citing two years of increases below inflation. The union says low wages have led to financial hardship, second jobs, and health issues. The library offered a 3% raise for 2025/26, weighted to help lower-paid staff with a minimum increase of 2.4% or £800, and reaffirmed its Living Wage Foundation status. It denied claims of a £5,000 executive bonus and said a senior management restructure is underway. A separate ballot is also underway for Tate Galleries staff.
