Birdwatchers spotted a Thick-billed Longspur and 10 species in Alberta’s Dinosaur Park during late August 2025.
In late August 2025, birdwatchers surveyed southeast Alberta’s grasslands and Dinosaur Provincial Park, spotting a Thick-billed Longspur near the park’s visitor center and recording 10 species on the Cottonwood Trail.
Despite challenging heat and late-season timing, they observed migrating waterfowl, shorebirds, and songbirds, with more species expected as fall migration continues.
The park, a UNESCO site since 1979, remains famous for its Cretaceous fossils.
