Air Canada will end North Bay flights by Jan 2026 due to scheduling, staffing, and slot issues, prompting criticism from MPP Vic Fedeli.
Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli blames Air Canada for ending its service to North Bay, citing the airline’s inadequate flight schedules, staffing shortages, and limited airport slots as key reasons.
The airline will reduce flights to four per week by November and halt service entirely by January 2026, ending a decades-long presence.
Fedeli criticized the lack of morning and evening flights, which he says hurt passenger demand, and contrasted North Bay’s situation with Sudbury’s recent addition of Toronto flights.
He emphasized the economic and connectivity importance of air service for the city’s 55,000 residents and said the city has provided emergency funding to support efforts to secure alternative carriers.
