Virgin Australia launches pet-in-cabin service for frequent flyers on select routes starting Oct. 16, 2025.
Virgin Australia has launched its first pet-in-cabin service on October 16, 2025, allowing eligible Velocity Frequent Flyer members to travel with small pets on select domestic routes between Melbourne, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast.
The service, available for 18,600 points per flight, limits each flight to four pets under eight kilograms in approved carriers, with restrictions on certain breeds and age groups.
Pets must remain under the seat, and allergy-sensitive passengers can request alternative seating.
The airline also plans to reduce economy carry-on baggage to one item weighing up to eight kilograms, plus a personal item, starting February 2, 2026, to improve boarding efficiency.
