A UK prison nurse was struck off for years of racist, sexual, and discriminatory behavior toward colleagues and patients.
Paul Bryan Vogler, a prison nurse in Oxfordshire, has been struck off the nursing register by the NMC after a panel found he engaged in sustained racist, sexual, and discriminatory behavior over years while working at HMP Huntercombe, Pentonville, and Wormwood Scrubs.
The panel determined his conduct—including racist remarks, sexual objectification of colleagues, aggressive behavior toward staff of color, and inappropriate comments about patients—caused significant harm and revealed deep-seated attitudinal issues.
Despite clinical competence, the NMC ruled his behavior violated core professional standards, and no conditions of practice could protect the public, making striking off necessary.
An interim suspension remains in place during any potential appeal.
