A public celebration of life for Lee County Commissioner Mike Greenwell, who died on October 9 at age 62, will be held on October 18 at 1 p.m. at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers. Greenwell, a native of Lee County and former Major League Baseball player with the Boston Red Sox, was appointed to the county commission in 2022 and re-elected in 2024. The event will feature remarks from family, officials, and Red Sox representatives, memorabilia displays, music, and a tribute by the Lee County Public Safety Honor Guard. Attendees are encouraged to wear Red Sox colors, share stories, and expect security screening similar to Spring Training. Gate D opens at 11:30 a.m., and a livestream will be available at www.leegov.com.
