Oxfordshire to test banning right turns at A40 Barnard Gate to boost safety, part of Vision Zero.
Oxfordshire County Council has approved a £100,000 trial to ban right turns from the A40 at Barnard Gate, requiring left turns only to improve safety.
The 18-month experiment, part of the Vision Zero initiative to eliminate serious road injuries and deaths by 2050, follows years of safety concerns, including a 2021 crash.
New signage will direct traffic to Cuckoo Lane, but right turns into South Leigh remain unaffected.
Other approved safety measures include speed limit changes on the A4074, closing a gap in the central reservation on the A40 London Road, and installing a raised crossing at Welch Way in Witney.
The changes are set to begin later in 2025 and will be monitored for adjustments.
