A NSW recycling plant was fined $30,000 for illegally accepting waste after exceeding its annual limit, marking its second 2025 penalty.
Recycled Concrete Products Pty Ltd, a Tomago, NSW recycling facility, has been fined $30,000 for violating a 2024 prevention notice that barred it from accepting waste after exceeding its annual limit of 30,000 tonnes by 25,000 tonnes. Despite the restriction, the company continued to take in up to 600 tonnes of waste per day—equivalent to about 300 average cars—through March 2025. This is the second fine imposed on the company in 2025 for exceeding permitted waste levels. The NSW EPA warned that repeated breaches increase pollution risks, including runoff and dust, threatening waterways, air quality, and nearby communities. The company has resumed operations under stricter reporting requirements and remains under active monitoring, with potential for harsher enforcement if violations continue.
