Nissan trademarked "Tekton" in Australia, hinting at a 2026 compact SUV launch based on the Renault Duster, but no official plans confirm it.
Nissan has trademarked the "Tekton" name in Australia, indicating a possible future launch of the compact SUV, though no official plans have been confirmed.
The vehicle, set for a 2026 overseas debut, is based on the Renault Duster’s platform, shares its CMF-B architecture, and is designed for the Indian market, where it will be built under four meters to avoid higher taxes.
It is expected to use the Duster’s engines, including a turbocharged 1.3L and a 1.2L mild-hybrid unit.
While the platform supports safety features like autonomous emergency braking and curtain airbags, the Duster’s three-star Euro NCAP rating and lack of ANCAP evaluation raise concerns about meeting Australia’s stricter safety standards, which require advanced driver assistance systems.
The trademark is a common industry practice and does not guarantee a future release.
