Nigeria will provide 40 homes to judges by 2027, ending rental housing for judicial officers in Abuja.
By 2027, no judge in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory High Court will live in rented housing, as part of a government project to provide 40 permanent homes for judicial officers, including the President of the Court of Appeal and chief judges of federal courts.
The initiative, funded through the 2024 and 2025 budgets and backed by President Bola Tinubu, aims to enhance judicial independence and security by ensuring judges receive ownership of their homes upon retirement.
Construction is underway in Abuja, with completion expected by late 2025.
