The Lake District National Park Authority approved plans on October 6, 2025, for a new timber jetty at Southfield, Windermere, replacing a structure dating to 1957. The 19.8-meter jetty will be widened by 300 millimeters and built with treated spruce, with construction required within three years. Separately, plans were submitted to rebuild a Whitehaven home damaged in a late 2024 gas explosion that injured three people and displaced neighbors, aiming to restore the property to match its original appearance and neighborhood character.
