The Joel Richards Scholarship supports students pursuing qualifications in coaching, refereeing, tutoring, and first aid, with priority for those from Joel’s former schools.
Created by his mother Suzanne and brother Owen, it’s part of the Smile for Joel charity.
A launch event on November 6, 2025, at the university’s Arena, will feature reflections from Vice Chancellor Professor David Green, who walked 280 km to raise funds.
Proceeds will support the scholarship, continuing Joel’s legacy in sport and community service.
