Morocco starts first aircraft engine plant with French firm Safran, boosting aerospace exports and jobs.
Morocco has launched construction of its first aircraft engine manufacturing plant in Nouaceur near Casablanca, a €350 million project by French aerospace firm Safran.
The facility, part of the Midparc aerospace platform, will assemble and test LEAP-1A engines for Airbus A320 Neo aircraft, producing up to 350 annually, and include a maintenance site handling 150 engines yearly.
The project, led by King Mohammed VI and Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, aims to create 300 skilled jobs by 2029 and 600 by 2030, boosting Morocco’s aerospace exports, which rose from under 1 billion dirhams in 2004 to over 26 billion dirhams in 2024.
