Instagram restricts teens' access to mature content starting Oct. 14, 2025, with automatic PG-13 filters and parental controls.
Meta is rolling out PG-13 content restrictions for teens on Instagram starting October 14, 2025, automatically limiting exposure to strong language, risky behavior, drugs, and explicit themes.
Teens cannot change these settings without parental approval, and parents can enable a stricter "limited content" mode that disables comments.
The update blocks interactions with age-inappropriate accounts, including those linked to platforms like OnlyFans, and extends PG-13 standards to AI interactions.
It also expands search filters to block mature terms and misspellings.
The move, aimed at improving teen safety, follows criticism over past failures to shield minors from harmful content and is being rolled out in the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada, with global expansion expected by 2026.
