Gregory LaCroix, 38, entered an Alford plea to attempted murder in connection with a 2024 downtown Fargo shooting that injured a man. The Oct. 17, 2024, incident occurred at 3rd Avenue N. and Broadway N., where LaCroix shot the victim before fleeing. Police located him later that day with witness help. He initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea on Oct. 13, 2025, acknowledging sufficient evidence for conviction while maintaining innocence. As part of the agreement, the aggravated assault charge was dropped. Sentencing is set for Dec. 22, 2025, with a potential prison term of four to 20 years. The victim survived.
