Google to invest €5B in Belgium’s AI and data centers, creating 15,000 indirect jobs.
Google has announced a €5 billion investment in Belgium from 2026 to 2027 to expand AI and data center infrastructure in Saint-Ghislain and Farciennes, creating around 300 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect ones.
The project, unveiled October 8, 2025, will power Google’s cloud services and core products with carbon-free energy, backed by wind farm partnerships.
It strengthens Belgium’s role as a European tech hub and supports the EU’s digital sovereignty goals.
The move follows Europe’s broader push for AI independence amid concerns over reliance on U.S. and Asian tech giants.
