Former President Ram Nath Kovind to address NHRC’s 32nd Foundation Day, highlighting its work on rights and reforms.
Former President Ram Nath Kovind will be chief guest at the National Human Rights Commission’s 32nd Foundation Day on October 16, 2025, delivering the inaugural address.
The event, marking three decades since the NHRC’s establishment on October 12, 1993, includes a national conference on prison inmates’ rights.
Since 1993, the NHRC has processed over 23.79 lakh cases, recommended over ₹263 crore in relief, and issued 31 advisories on issues like mental health, transgender rights, and child abuse.
In the past year, it handled over 73,000 complaints, conducted 63 spot inquiries, and recommended more than ₹9 crore in compensation.
The Commission has also recommended reforms to 97 discriminatory laws, conducted outreach through expert groups and training programs, and engaged internationally through forums like the UN Human Rights Council.
