Former Inner Mongolia official Wang Bo sentenced to death with reprieve for taking 449 million yuan in bribes.
Wang Bo, former Inner Mongolia vice-chairman, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for accepting over 449 million yuan in bribes from 2003 to 2024, primarily in exchange for favors in business, projects, and jobs. The Yichang Intermediate Court ruled he will serve life imprisonment without parole due to the crime's severity, despite his cooperation, confession, and return of stolen funds. He was also stripped of political rights for life and ordered to forfeit all assets. Wang, 67, was investigated in June 2024, expelled from the Communist Party in December, indicted in April 2025, and the case was publicly heard in June.
