The European Court of Human Rights has ordered Russia to pay Georgia over €253 million in compensation for human rights violations during and after the 2008 war, affecting more than 29,000 people.
The ruling cites excessive force, unlawful detention, ill-treatment, and restrictions on movement across the administrative boundary between Georgian-controlled areas and the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
