Cachar district in Assam has imposed a night-time movement ban along the India-Bangladesh border effective October 14, 2025, citing security concerns over extremist activity and illegal cross-border movements.
Under Section 163 of the BNSS, travel is restricted within a one-kilometre zone from sunset to sunrise, including along the Surma River, with boating and fishing banned without prior permission.
Transport of essential goods is prohibited within a five-kilometre border zone at night, except under verified exceptions.
The order, issued by District Magistrate Mridul Yadav, will last two months and aims to prevent smuggling and unauthorized activity.
