Aaranyak’s J4L initiative in Assam won top community tourism award for empowering locals and conserving nature.
Aaranyak’s Journey for Learning (J4L) initiative in Assam won Best Community-Based Tourism Initiative at the NEITA 2025 awards, recognizing its sustainable eco-cultural tourism model in the Kaziranga-Karbi Anglong and Manas regions.
The program, which supports 10 women-led homestays, 11 community-guided groups, and women’s catering cooperatives, has hosted 788 guests, generated over 1,614 bed-nights, and served 4,000 meals while promoting indigenous knowledge, biodiversity conservation, and local economic empowerment through transparent benefit-sharing.
Funded by IUCN-Kfw, J4L exemplifies a community-driven approach to tourism and environmental stewardship in India’s Northeast.
