A 19-year-old Sudanese asylum seeker pleaded not guilty to murdering Rhiannon Whyte at a UK railway station in October 2024.
A 19-year-old Sudanese man, Deng Chol Majek, appeared in court in Wolverhampton on October 13, 2025, accused of murdering 27-year-old hotel worker Rhiannon Whyte at Bescot Stadium railway station in Walsall.
Majek, believed to be an asylum seeker, pleaded not guilty to murder and possessing a screwdriver as an offensive weapon.
The trial, held at Wolverhampton Crown Court, began with a jury of 12 sworn in, and Judge Mr Justice Soole instructed them to evaluate evidence impartially.
Prosecutor Michelle Heeley KC is set to open the case on Tuesday.
Whyte died three days after being fatally stabbed in October 2024.
