TP-Link has successfully demonstrated the first prototype of Wi-Fi 8 hardware, confirming key capabilities like beacon signals and data transfer in a joint industry test. The technology, expected to be standardized by 2028, aims to improve reliability and performance in real-world conditions, especially in congested or low-signal areas. Operating on 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands with up to 320MHz channels and a peak speed of 23Gbps, Wi-Fi 8 will support more devices, reduce lag, and enhance stability for streaming, gaming, and video calls. While consumer products may arrive before the formal standard is finalized, widespread adoption is still years away.
