Taiwan launches T-Dome air defense system to boost missile, drone, and aircraft defense with real-time coordination.
Taiwan has launched the T-Dome air defense initiative, a networked system designed to enhance integration among anti-missile, anti-air, and anti-drone defenses through a real-time "sensor-to-shooter" approach, improving response speed and interception accuracy.
Announced by President Lai Ching-te and detailed by Defense Minister Wellington Koo, the system aims to strengthen Taiwan’s asymmetric deterrence against China, which continues to increase military pressure.
A special budget will be allocated by year-end to fund new equipment and upgrades.
The T-Dome aligns with U.S. military concepts like CJADC2, emphasizing mobility, survivability, and coordinated firepower.
It builds on existing U.S.-made Patriot and Stinger systems, Taiwan’s Sky Bow missiles, and the developing Chiang-Kong missile.
Lai has pledged to raise defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2030.
