Russia blames Uzbek IS militant and Ukraine for failed bomb attack on Moscow general, linked to past killings.
Russia’s FSB says a failed assassination plot against a senior Russian military officer in Moscow was orchestrated by Uzbek IS militant Saidakbar Gulomov, who allegedly recruited a Central Asian extremist to build a bomb using drone-delivered components from Ukraine.
The device, hidden in a bicycle, was placed by a Russian national and deemed capable of causing injuries up to 70 meters away.
Authorities cite similarities to the December 2024 killing of General Igor Kirillov and accuse Ukraine of collaborating with IS, a claim Moscow has made before, including in connection with the 2024 Crocus City Hall attack.
Two other Russians were detained.
The case is under investigation.
