A NSW man was jailed for four years for holding over 1.5kg of methamphetamine and other drugs, despite claiming he was only keeping them for personal use.
A 49-year-old Shellharbour man, Anthony John Myers, was sentenced to four years in prison with a two-year non-parole period for supplying large commercial quantities of drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, MDMA, cannabis, and Suboxone, after police found over 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine and other drugs at his home.
Myers, who admitted to a severe drug habit and spending $100,000 from a compensation payout on drugs, claimed he was asked by two men to hold the drugs due to distrust of his housemate and denied selling them, saying he only intended to use them personally.
Though he had completed a rehabilitation program in custody and became a mentor to fellow inmates, the court emphasized his role in enabling drug distribution networks, resulting in a significant non-parole period.
He will be eligible for parole in September 2026.
