Madura Plains, a massive Western Australian sheep station, is for sale after the Cooper family's modernization efforts boosted its capacity to over 70,000 sheep.
Madura Plains, one of the world’s largest sheep stations at 711,638 hectares in Western Australia, is being sold through a “walk-in walk-out” process by Elders Real Estate, following the recent sale of Rawlinna.
The property, near the South Australian border, supports over 60,000 sheep and 3,500 goats, backed by extensive infrastructure including 1,400 km of pipelines, solar-powered pumps, and a 1,000 km dog-proof fence.
Originally established in 1876, it was developed by the MacLachlan family and later acquired by the Cooper family in 2016, who invested heavily in modernization, enabling peak production of over 70,000 sheep in 2024.
The station benefits from reliable winter rainfall and low-salinity water delivery.
No price has been set, and the sale is being conducted via a staged expression of interest process.
