A landmark exhibition, "Afrobeat Rebellion," opened in Lagos, Nigeria, honoring musician and activist Fela Kuti, the pioneer of Afrobeat and a fierce critic of military regimes.
Organized by the French Embassy and the Kuti family, the immersive exhibit features artifacts, photos, music, and multimedia, retracing Kuti’s life from his Kalakuta commune to the Afrika Shrine.
It coincides with the annual Felabration festival and marks growing official recognition of Kuti’s legacy in Nigeria, where he was long underappreciated.
