As of September 2025, Ireland’s First Home Scheme has approved over 8,300 first-time buyers nationwide, with 4,118 homes purchased or self-built using government and banking support.
The scheme, which provides up to 17% of a home’s cost—averaging €66,000 in aid—has been extended and replenished with €80 million in new funding after its initial €740 million pool was reduced by €273 million.
Demand remains high, especially in Dublin, Kildare, Cork, Meath, and Wicklow, where 72% of applicants reside, and 66% of participants also use the Help to Buy scheme.
The program operates through a state-bank partnership with AIB, Bank of Ireland, PTSB, and other lenders.
