India's top court lets Asian Paints drop appeal over antitrust probe into alleged market abuse.
The Supreme Court of India declined to hear Asian Paints' appeal against the Competition Commission of India's (CCI) probe into allegations of market dominance abuse, allowing the company to withdraw its plea.
The investigation, initiated on July 1, 2025, stems from a 2024 complaint by Grasim Industries (Birla Opus) accusing Asian Paints of coercing dealers, restricting access to logistics, and blocking competitors.
The CCI found a prima facie case, directing a 90-day investigation by its Director General.
The Bombay High Court had upheld the CCI’s authority, rejecting claims of procedural flaws or res judicata based on prior dismissed complaints.
The case remains ongoing, with no final determination on whether Asian Paints violated the Competition Act, 2002.
El máximo tribunal de la India deja que Asian Paints deje de apelar sobre la investigación antimonopolio sobre el presunto abuso de mercado.
