India's private company GalaxEye to launch Drishti, the world’s first multi-sensor Earth satellite, in early 2026.
India’s GalaxEye plans to launch Mission Drishti in early 2026, the world’s first multi-sensor Earth observation satellite, weighing 160 kg and featuring both synthetic aperture radar and high-resolution optical sensors.
The satellite, India’s largest privately built and highest-resolution to date, will deliver 1.5-meter imagery from 500 km altitude, enabling all-weather, day-and-night monitoring.
It has passed structural and environmental testing at ISRO’s UR Rao Satellite Centre.
The launch marks the start of a planned constellation of 8 to 12 satellites by 2029, supporting real-time geospatial data for defense, disaster management, agriculture, infrastructure, and financial sectors.
