India launches nationwide polio vaccination drives for children under five to maintain polio-free status.
On October 12, 2025, multiple Indian states launched Pulse Polio campaigns targeting children under five to prevent polio resurgence.
Madhya Pradesh initiated a three-day drive in 18 districts, aiming to vaccinate over 39 lakh children via 24,000 booths and door-to-door visits.
Telangana began a four-day campaign across six districts, including Hyderabad, targeting 17.56 lakh children with 2,800+ booths and mobile teams, focusing on high-risk areas and transit hubs.
Kerala and Tamil Nadu also started local drives in Alappuzha and Virudhunagar, respectively, using booths and mobile units to reach children.
These efforts, part of a nationwide initiative by the Union Ministry of Health, aim to maintain India’s polio-free status and strengthen herd immunity.
