Ghanaian police arrested two suspects in connection with a plot to assassinate a chief ahead of a royal event.
Ghanaian police have arrested two individuals, Emelia Akua Asor and Butuakwa Seth, over an alleged plot to assassinate Chief Daasebre Ayimadu Kantamanto II of Akyem Kwabeng ahead of his October 17, 2025, Royal Durbar.
The arrests followed intelligence-led operations on October 11–12, 2025, during which undercover officers infiltrated the suspects’ network.
Asor allegedly offered GH₵50,000 to carry out the killings of the chief and a woman expected to become Queen Mother, with an additional GH₵50,000 promised upon completion.
Seth assisted by identifying the victims’ residences and providing a photo of the chief.
Both suspects are in custody, cooperating with investigators, and face trial.
Police emphasized their commitment to protecting traditional leaders and ensuring public safety.
