A former Kingston media owner is on trial for years of abuse, including sexual assault and child pornography, linked to a fake sugar daddy persona on a dating site.
Michael Haaima, a 32-year-old former Kingston media company owner, faces multiple charges including sexual assault, child pornography, and stalking in a trial revealing a years-long pattern of abuse.
Nine women, including post-secondary students, allege they were manipulated through the dating site Seeking Arrangement, where Haaima posed as a “sugar daddy,” and subjected to repeated rapes, physical violence, and coercion while his fiancée lived in the home.
Some claim he used spyware, threatened them with violence, and forced silence with the phrase “Be quiet, Mommy is sleeping.” At least one victim under 16 is charged with multiple sexual offenses.
Prosecutors suggest Haaima may have acted out a fantasy involving abuse while his fiancée was present.
The trial continues with additional victims expected to testify.
