Briauna Adams, 29, of Kansas City, was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for orchestrating fraud schemes that stole over $500,000 in Paycheck Protection Program loans and $700,000 in stolen Treasury checks.
She used stolen identities to rent a home and open a fraudulent investment account, depositing a $1.4 million fake Treasury check that was reversed.
In November 2024, authorities found 253 stolen checks at her residence.
Adams pleaded guilty to wire fraud, money laundering, theft of government funds, and conspiracy, and was ordered to pay restitution for the PPP losses.
The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
