Rapid City celebrated Native culture with a powwow and Indigenous Peoples' Day Parade, highlighting pride, health, and sovereignty.
Rapid City hosted its 37th annual Black Hills Powwow and fourth Indigenous Peoples' Day Parade from October 10 to 12, 2025, drawing thousands in celebration of Native culture.
The powwow, themed “Come Dance with Us,” featured 1,600 dancers, $180,000 in prizes, and events including regalia shows, traditional games, and health resources.
The parade, organized by the Great Plains Tribal Leaders' Health Board, included 90 floats and a pink theme to raise breast cancer awareness, supporting tribal sovereignty and health initiatives.
Both events highlighted cultural pride, community unity, and ongoing efforts to address public health disparities.
