Police Chief Randy Fandal won Slidell's mayoral election, securing 72% of the vote to finish out the term.
Randy Fandal, Slidell’s police chief since 2016, won a special mayoral election on October 11, 2025, capturing 72% of the vote to succeed outgoing Mayor Greg Cromer, who left to join Governor Jeff Landry’s administration.
Fandal will serve the remainder of Cromer’s term through June 2026, defeating incumbent Bill Borchert, who had assumed the role after Cromer’s resignation.
The election, marked by debate over Borchert’s use of the title “mayor,” saw 26.4% voter turnout.
Both Fandal and Borchert are eligible to run for a full term in the April 2026 election.
