A Pakistani woman arrested in India admitted to lying about her identity and having a 15-year drug trafficking sentence in Nepal.
A 50-year-old woman, identified as Louis Nighat Akhtar Bhano from Pakistan, was arrested at Sabroom Railway Station in Tripura on October 11, 2025, after arriving on the Kanchanjunga Express from Siliguri. She initially claimed to be Saheena Parveen from Delhi but admitted to lying after being found with concealed Pakistani phone numbers. She revealed she had been sentenced to 15 years in Nepal for drug trafficking in 2014, escaped during unrest, and entered India about 15–16 days prior, attempting first to cross into Bangladesh before moving to Tripura. Authorities are investigating her movements and connections. Tripura’s border with Bangladesh remains a high-risk zone for cross-border crime.
