At least 61 migrant bodies have been recovered along Libya’s western coast near the Tunisian border between Zuwara and Ras Ijdir, according to the Emergency Medicine and Support Center.
The victims, believed to be irregular migrants, were found in Zuwara, Mellitah, and Abu Kammash, with 12 buried and others undergoing autopsies.
Photos from the center’s Facebook page show medics retrieving bodies from beaches.
This follows a September incident where at least 50 migrants died after a vessel caught fire.
