Iowa Senator Joni Ernst concluded her Senate farewell tour with her final Roast and Ride event on October 11, 2025, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, marking the end of her tenure after two terms.
She announced she would not seek re-election, endorsing Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, who has launched her campaign for the open seat.
Hinson, backed by former President Donald Trump, faces former state lawmaker Jim Carlin for the GOP nomination, while five Democrats and one Libertarian are also running.
The event, now in its 10th year, raised $10,000 for Blue Star Mothers of Iowa and featured speeches from Iowa Republicans including Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Randy Feenstra, who is running for governor.
Ernst, emotional during her remarks, reflected on her journey from a Southwest Iowa farm girl to the state’s first female U.S. senator in 2014.
