Ghanaian officials warn of rising NCD deaths linked to workplace factors and launch health initiatives.
Ghana's Minister for Labour, Dr Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, and MP Thomas Winsum Anabah warned of a growing health crisis linked to non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which cause over 43% of deaths in the country.
Speaking at the Ghana Health and Labour Summit on October 9, 2025, they highlighted workplace stress, poor nutrition, long hours, and environmental pollution as key risk factors.
Both called for urgent action, launching the Ghana Workplace Health Declaration and Employee Safeguarding Toolkits to promote worker well-being and prevent productivity losses.
They emphasized that improving health in the workplace is essential for economic growth and national development.
